Two regional Catholic organizations are being showcased for their green building initiatives. Robert Helmer, president of Lourdes College, and Danielle Conroyd, project director of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters Monroe, Mich., campus, are talking about their respective construction projects with the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments (TMACOG).
The IHM Sisters have received federal recognition for the sustainable renovation of its Motherhouse. The Lourdes College project was designed to capture and reuse rain runoff and incorporated geothermal heating and cooling in its new building. They are presenting their projects during TMACOG’s Winter General Assembly Jan. 29 in Perrysburg.
