One of the pieces of mail in my box today made me reminiscent of a trip my family and I took last summer. It was a press release and the 2008 Hocking Hills Visitors Guide.
I’m sure many people in the Diocese of Toledo are aware of this gorgeous part of Ohio, but growing up my family vacationed primarily in the northern part of Michigan. Shortly after buying a camper last spring, I started asking around for areas nearby to camp. Hocking Hills was mentioned by more than a few people, so we thought we’d give it a go.
From our home, it was about a four-hour drive towing the camper and it was worth every minute.
You probably remember much of the region had little to no rain most of the summer, and that was true also for the southeast part of Ohio. The visitor guide’s promise of cascading waterfalls and flowing rivers was not realized on our trip, but it didn’t matter. The beauty that surrounds Hocking Hills is amazing — water or not. To see some highlights of our trip, visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KRPPKUu16o .
If you’re looking for a place to go this summer — or any time of year — consider Hocking Hills. You can get your own visitors guide by going to www.1800Hocking.com or by calling 1-800-HOCKING.
