TOLEDO—More than 60 students from Central Catholic High School’s band, glee club, mixed chorus, piano class and string orchestra participated in the District 1 Ohio Music Education Association Solo and Ensemble Contest held at Perrysburg High School Feb. 2.
They performed for adjudicators from around the state and were judged on tone quality, intonation, interpretation and technique. Ratings of superior, excellent, good, fair and poor were given at the contest, and all the students from Central Catholic received superior or excellent ratings.
The following are the events that the students entered and the ratings they received:
Violin Trio: Chris Boles, Robbie Franks and Bethany DuBell received an excellent; Olivia Kookoothe, Larry Gregory and Trenton Robinson received an excellent.
Violin Duet: Molly Troy and Connie Hawkins received an excellent.
Bass Solo: Cory Dutkiewicz received a rating of excellent.
Cello Solo: Rudolfo Orta received an excellent and Yuki Mineoi received a superior.
Piano Solo: Allie Goodall, Kara Cook and Zachary Seidlecki received excellent ratings; Allison Herr and Todd Seidlecki received superior ratings.
Flute Trio: Lindsay Schramm, Jenny Lee and Emily Snyder received a rating of superior.
Glee Club Solo: Cheyene Banas, Nick Garvin, Katie Kraus, Michael Mesteller, Michael O’Connell, James Tafelski, Christopher Zavac, Devon Desmond, Josh Jordan, Katie Kitz, Sara Klein, Joslynn Smallwood and Willis Sowle received superior ratings; Shaina Ohm, Nikki Toland, Tasha Zientek, Natalie Curtis, Sarah Oswald, Chloe Rose, Sara Klein and Meredith Schulz received excellent ratings.
Glee Club Ensemble: Natalie Curtis, Claire Dumas, Shaina Ohm, Sarah Oswald, April Pendleton, Nikki Toland, Tasha Zientek, Allison Avery, Miranda Hassen, McKenna Hunter, Mallory Hunyor, Katie Kitz, Sara Klein, Savannah Soto, Calee Zeman, Devon Desmond, Chad Gibson, Josh Jordan, Alex Kajca, Paul Siebeneck, Willis Sowle, Spencer Toral and Joe Velker received superior ratings; Cheyene Banas, Liz Casper, Theresa Fisher, Gretchen Hall, Katie Kraus, Maya Mineoi, Chloe Rose, Meredith Schulz, Ruthanne Sobecki, Chris Barrow, Ben Maloney, Yuki Mineoi, Mike O’Connell, Scott Raszka, Tom Velker, Nick Garvin, Mike Mesteller, Paul Schabel, Luke Siebeneck and James Tafelski received superior ratings.
