CLEVELAND—Tickets are on sale for an exhibit of one of the largest collections of art, documents and historically significant objects from the Vatican ever to tour North America.
“Vatican Splendors from St. Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums and the Swiss Guard” is coming to Western Reserve Historical Society in Cleveland May 31 for a limited, exclusive, regional engagement. The timing of the exhibit commemorates the 500th anniversary of St. Peter’s Basilica, the founding of the Vatican museums, Michelangelo’s painting of the Sistine Chapel ceiling and the establishment of the papal Swiss Guard.
Approximately 200 rare items are to be presented in contextual environments and include a reliquary holding fragments of the bones of St. Peter, personal items of Michelangelo, Bernini’s sculpture, papal election objects, armor and vestments of the Swiss Guard, the earliest known representation of Jesus, and many more historical and artistic treasures.
Tickets are available by calling 1-888-582-8422 or online at Ticketmaster.com. For information regarding group sales and special packages, contact 1-800-840-1157 or visit www.ticketsforgroups.com.
