OREGON—Joseph Gutilla has been named athletic director for Kateri Catholic School System and head football coach of Oregon Cardinal Stritch High School.
“We are pleased to welcome Mr. Gutilla to the Stritch family,” says Father David Reinhart, president of the Kateri Catholic School System. “He brings years of experience in Catholic high schools similar to our own. He exhibits professionalism, faith and talent that we come to expect from our administrators and coaches.”
Mr. Gutilla most recently was assistant varsity football coach at Columbus Academy in Gahanna, Ohio. He has served as head football coach at Benilde-St. Margaret School in Saint Louis Park, Minn., where he led two-time conference champions with five straight winning seasons. Similarly, as coach at Trinity High School in New Hampshire, Mr. Gutilla coached the football team to Class L Division 2 state semi-finals two years in a row. At Sonoma State University, as defensive coordinator, he directed the defense to its highest rank (second) in the Northern California Athletic Conference.
“My training includes physical training, study time and character education,” says Mr. Gutilla. “I try to teach athletes more about attitude, leadership and responsibility so that they better understand what they can become with the right attitude.”
