OREGON—Cardinal Stritch High School and Clay High School, both located in Oregon, recently finalized a a partnership for the 2010 football season.

Oregon City Schools, including Clay High School agreed to share the use of its football stadium with Cardinal Stritch High School. As part of the agreement, Cardinal Stritch is renting Oregon Clay Memorial Stadium for five varsity-level football games. For each home game, Clay High School is making available locker room facilities, ticket booths, concession stands, rest rooms, press box, public address system, scoreboard and parking.

The Clay Band Boosters are providing the concession items for each home game and Cardinal Stritch volunteers are running the concession stand. The Clay Band Boosters are splitting the profits from concession sales for each game with the Cardinal Stritch High School athletic department.

“We are very grateful for the agreement reached between our two school systems,” says Father Eric Schild, president of the Kateri Catholic School System, which includes Cardinal Stritch High School. “By working together for the good of our students, we are also building a stronger community in the City of Oregon. Our schools share the same basic philosophy to provide the highest quality educational experience for our students, which includes strong academic, athletic and extra-curricular programs. It only makes sense to share our resources.”

Michael Zalar, superintendent of Oregon City Schools adds, “With our schools located so close to one another, it only makes sense from a fiscal and practical standpoint to offer needed athletic resources to Cardinal Stritch. It’s a win-win.”

The remaining home games in Cardinal Stritch’s football season are Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. vs. Toledo Christian, Oct. 9 at 2:30 p.m. vs. Gilmour Academy and Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. vs. Edon.
