OREGON—The Little Sisters of the Poor are calling out the dogs for the 2008 Dog Days of Summer Festival to be held Aug. 3 on the grounds of Sacred Heart Home for the Elderly at 930 S. Wynn Rd.
The festival, featuring man’s best friend, is from noon to 6 p.m. and includes the ever-popular Pooch Parade at 4 p.m. For $5 a costumed dog may be walked in the parade and for $10 a dog may ride a float made out of a cart or wagon. Dogs are not required, however, to attend the event.
A new feature at the festival this year is an art and craft fair. A 12-by-12-foot space may be reserved for $25.
Other activities include a Pooch Party Store, Doggie Day Care and, of course, the infamous “Nun-Better” dog biscuits made by the sisters, residents and staff of Sacred Heart Home.
There is also Bingo, music by Cruisin’ Zeake and His Oldies Machine, kid’s games, hamburgers, hot dogs, barbecue chicken, French fries, ice cream and much more. The grand prize for the Summer Raffle is $1,000. Raffle tickets are $5 each, 6 for $25 or 12 for $50.
To purchase raffle tickets, register for the parade or craft fair or to volunteer call 419-698-4331 or e-mail devsoregon@littlesistersofthepoor.org. All proceeds help the Little Sisters continue their work of caring for the elderly poor in northwest Ohio.
