TOLEDO—On a warm and clear Friday evening in late August the Sacred Heart Home sponsored the second annual Little Sisters Day at the Mud Hens.
Third from left, Sister Cecilia Mary Sartorius, superior of the Little Sisters of the Poor Sacred Heart Home in Oregon, was “acting manager for the day” at the Toledo Mud Hens game at Fifth Third Field. Assisting her is Little Sister of the Poor Margaret Angeline Banar. More than 150 friends of the Sacred Heart Home showed up at Fifth Third Field, home of the Toledo Mud Hens, for an evening of fun and fellowship. The guests shared a picnic barbecue, received special baseball-related door prizes and stayed to watch the ballgame.
Little Sister of the Poor Cecilia Mary Sartorius, superior of the home, was introduced on the field before the game as the “acting manager for the day.” Her duties included exchanging the starting lineup card with the opposing manager and telling the players to “have a good game, no foul language and no spitting.”
The evening brought smiles to the faces of many Sacred Heart Home residents and their families and friends in attendance. After-game fireworks capped off the evening.
All proceeds from the evening went to help support the residents of the Sacred Heart Home.
