The priests were stationed at six different “chef bars” serving 325 guests. Priest chefs included Father Michael Billian, Father Marvin Borger, Father Gregory Hite, Father Dennis Metzger, Father William Kubacki, Father Charles Singler, Father David Reinhart, Father Joseph Weigman, Father Robert Wilhelm and Father Daniel Zak.
The event is the first of its kind in the area and helped raise funds for the sisters who operate Sacred Heart Home for the Aged in Oregon. The event also helped the Little Sisters of the Poor celebrate their 125th anniversary of serving the elderly poor in northwest Ohio.
A variety of foods were served throughout the evening, including chicken cordon bleu, bacon-wrapped scallops with maple and mustard cream sauce, beef tenderloin, tortellini in red sauce, portabella mushroom stackers and poached salmon filets with watercress mayonnaise. The event featured the culinary arts of the Pinnacle staff and the celebrity chefs, who each volunteered their services to prepare dishes for the guests.
In addition to the food, live entertainment was provided by the St. John’s Jesuit High School Jazz Band and the Cardinal Stritch High School Chorus.
The celebrity chef talents of Fr. Singler, Fr. Metzger and Fr. Billian were auctioned and each priest volunteered to cook a special dinner for 10 people to be served at a future date at the Pinnacle.
Another high point for the evening was a $5,000 grand prize raffle drawing. The event netted more than $62,000 in donations, which will go directly toward the care of the residents of the Sacred Heart Home.
