Cathedral concert series concludes with diocesan choir performance

TOLEDO—The Toledo Diocesan Choir, under the direction of Paul Monachino, performs at the final concert in the 2008-2009 Cathedral Concert series at 3 p.m. May 17 at Toledo Rosary Cathedral. The choir is to be joined by brass ensemble and percussion in this free concert, which is open to the public.

The choir is to perform “Gloria” by John Rutter, “Ave Maria” by Franz Biebl and psalm settings by British composers Ralph Vaughan-Williams and Benjamin Britten. Selections for brass ensemble and organ will include “Salve fac populum tuum” by Charles-Marie Widor and works by Richard Strauss, David Conte and Carlyle Sharpe.  Antiphonal double choir works by Gabrieli and Canali will take advantage of various recesses in the cathedral space.
