TOLEDO—A Service of Advent Lessons and Carols is being presented by by the Cathedral Choir with cathedral lectors proclaiming the scripture lessons beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7. The presider is Father Charles E. Singler, cathedral rector.
In the few years since its inception at the cathedral, this service has become an annual tradition for many. The late afternoon light filtering through the stained glass of the cathedral provides a fitting atmosphere.
The service begins with a ceremonial lighting of lamps and Evening Thanksgiving followed by six lessons from the Old Testament prophets culminating with the Gospel account of the Annunciation of Jesus’ birth to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Each scripture lesson is followed by an appropriate Advent anthem for the choir or carol for the congregation.
The service of Lessons and Carols Service is free. Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral is located at 2535 Collingwood Blvd., Toledo. Secured parking is available.
