TOLEDO—Toledo Central Catholic High School senior Ryan Clayton won the United States Chess Federation Ohio State Championship March 21.

He now moves on to compete in the 2010 national Denker Tournament of High School Champions in Irvine, Calif., July 31 through Aug. 3. Scholarships are awarded to the top five finishers in the national tournament.
Ryan is also a member of the Central Catholic chess team and finished undefeated this season. He has only four losses in four years of play at CCHS. Ryan is on the honor roll, has played on the Irish golf team and is a member of the Men’s Club and the Frisbee Club.
He plans to attend The Ohio State University where he will major in engineering.
