TOLEDO—Jasmine Levesque-Neal, a 2008 graduate of Toledo Central Catholic High School, is one of 30 Ohio students to receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Burger King Scholars program.
Scholarship awards are intended to help graduates offset the cost of attending college or a post-secondary vocational/technical school. Graduating seniors throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada are eligible. Scholar recipients are selected based on grade point average, outstanding academic achievement, work experience, financial need, co-curricular activities and community service.
In this eighth year of the scholarship program, more than $800,000 was donated nationwide. Funds come from the Have It Your Way Foundation. Company-owned and franchise Burger King restaurants throughout the country host a variety of fundraising activities in order to generate money for scholarships each year.
For more information on the program, including instructions for obtaining scholarship applications for 2009, visit www.bk.com/scholars or call 305-378-3186.
