Central Catholic welcomes Chinese university officials |

TOLEDO—Three Chinese university officials visited Toledo Central Catholic High School (CCHS) Dec. 1 to promote collaboration.

The delegation toured the school’s International Baccalaureate Chinese class, the SPACE Room in the library and several classrooms featuring interactive technology. They then met with CCHS administrators for a discussion about education.
The Chinese officials are from Yanshan University and were in town to attend the official opening of the Confucius Institute at the University of Toledo Nov. 30. The Confucius Institute is a non-profit, public institute that promotes Chinese language and culture and supports local Chinese teaching.
The delegation from Yanshan University included the vice president of international affairs, the director of the president’s office and the director of the division of international cooperation. The purpose of their visit to Central Catholic was to promote collaboration between the school and the university, to share what the two schools have in common and to discuss ways for CCHS students to be citizens in a global society.
Central Catholic’s Chinese teacher, Jessie Zhou, previously taught at Yanshan University, and the officials were also eager to see her teaching at CCHS.
