TOLEDO—A group of Toledo Central Catholic High School students, parents, alumni and the community are continuing efforts to see that the Brian Clark family of Toledo gets a home makeover “Irish Style” by sponsoring a benefit concert featuring Grammy-nominated Sanctus Real.

The concert is May 1 at the Sullivan Center at Central Catholic, 2550 Cherry St.

Two local bands precede Sanctus Real. The Light Ahead, a group of Toledo St. John’s Jesuit High School and Toledo Christian students, and 1 of Radio, a group of Central Catholic alumni, will perform in addition to members of the Central Catholic music department.

Coyle Funeral Home
Music, food and raffles are also to be available at the event. Doors open at 5 p.m. with the Sanctus Real performance slated for 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $10 and are available at the six Toledo Catholic high schools and at Toledo Christian and Reger’s Church Supplies. All ticket proceeds are to benefit the Clark family home makeover.

Brian Clark, a teacher at Central Catholic for 28 years, was one of five finalists for ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” last September. The Clark family was not selected for the Toledo build despite a petition of more than 5,000 signatures in support.

Since then, interested members of Central Catholic and other area citizens have been helping the Clarks renovate their home. The Clarks have four adopted children and have fostered more than 80 children, most with special needs, in their 84-year-old south Toledo home.

The benefit concert proceeds are to help pay for renovations planned in the kitchen, upgrades to the electrical throughout the home and painting the home exterior this summer.

To date, the CCHS community has successfully replaced the roof and main sewer line from the Clarks’ home to the street.
