Polish harvest celebration is Sept. 27

TOLEDO—The Toledo-Poznan Alliance presents Dozynki 2009, the annual Polish harvest celebration and dinner, Sept. 27.

The public is invited to begin the day with a procession and Mass of Thanksgiving in both Polish and English languages at 10:30 a.m. at Toledo St. Adalbert.

After Mass, Dozynki 2009 continues at the Central Park West reception hall. Doors open at noon with the Dozynki program and dinner scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Admission for the dinner is only by advance paid reservation. The menu includes traditional Polish harvest foods and is catered by Pinnacle Events and the staff of Central Park West.

Entertainment includes Toledo’s Echoes of Poland Folk Song & Dance Ensemble, accordionist Randy Krajewski, violinist Dania Gnida and more. A raffle and silent auction, displays of Polish culture and a cash bar are also part of this year’s event.

Co-chairs of Dozynki 2009 are Sylvania Franciscan Sister Ann Francis Klimkowski of Lourdes College and Rob Szczublewski of “The Melodies of Poland” radio program.

Advance reservations made by Sept 18 are $30 per person. Reservations after Sept 18 are $35 per person. Event sponsorship is available for $100 and includes program recognition, two dinners and preferred seating.

Proceeds from Dozynki 2009 help continue the mission of The Toledo-Poznan Alliance, an affiliate of Toledo Sister Cities International, including the support of a Dom Dziecka, an orphanage in Poznan, Poland.
