Lead poisoning is the number one preventable health hazard facing children in the United States, according to the Center for Disease Control, although many people are unaware of the danger of lead poisoning. Lead poisoning levels increase in children during the summer months and the effects of lead poisoning can last a lifetime.

Lead settles into the developing brain and tissues causing learning disabilities, hearing loss, anger, aggression, behavior issues and slow bone and muscle growth. Children 6 and under should be tested yearly for lead poisoning.

Visit a GOT LEAD? information table or call the Lead Education and Awareness Program at 419-244-6711, ext. 422 for more information.
