CINCINNATI—Scott Shook, senior vice president of strategic initiatives for Mercy Health Partners in Toledo was given the Catholic Healthcare Partners (CHP) Susan Smith Makos Spirit Award May 3 at CHP’s annual Governance Retreat and Academy.
The annual award is presented to a CHP management leader who actively advocates for CHP’s patients and the communities CHP serves and promotes understanding and support in the communities for the good works done by CHP.
“Scott’s leadership and gregarious personality have produced unparalleled partnerships in northern Ohio that ultimately better serve real people with real needs,” says Matthew Williams, CHP’s vice president of external relations.
Mr. Shook’s advocacy efforts helped to create CareNet, a program that provides health care services to low-income residents of Lucas County who do not have health insurance and do not qualify for government health care programs. He also helped bring about renovation of a major central city thoroughfare near St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, helped turn the old Riverside Hospital into a community center and has been a member of numerous community organizations.
