Hospice Of Northwest Ohio hosts workshops with Richard Groves

MAUMEE—Richard Groves, an internationally respected teacher of the Sacred Art of Living and Dying, is presenting three workshops for health care professionals and the general public.

A chaplain for more than 25 years, Mr. Groves speaks nine languages and has earned graduate degrees in theology, ethics, world religions and law.

He and his wife, Mary, are the founders of the Sacred Art of Living Center in Bend, Ore. More than 10,000 students around the world, including health care professionals, faith community leaders and the larger public, have graduated from the Groves’ spiritual education programs. His latest creation is The Anamcara Project, a first-of-its-kind internship in the sacred art of living and dying.

“Healing the Healers: Re-Connecting the Soul and Role of Caregiving,” a program for health care professionals, begins at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6.

Mr. Groves introduce his approach on “Aging to Sage-ing: Spirituality in the Second Half of Life” to the general community and health care professionals at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 7. This presentation is followed by a luncheon and discussion on “A New Ethics for the Aging: Practical Perspectives.” He will also be signing his book “The American Book of Dying: Lessons in Healing Spiritual Pain.”

The programs are at Parkway Place Event and Conference Center, 2592 Parkway Place, Maumee.
