TOLEDO—In response to the economic challenges facing its students and the region as a whole, Mercy College of Northwest Ohio has frozen tuition for the 2008/2009 academic year.
According to school officials, this is the first time in the college’s history tuition has been frozen.
“As a mission-based educator, we believed it was the right thing for us to do in this economic climate,” says John Hayward, president of Mercy College of Northwest Ohio. “We believe it reflects our overall philosophy of education, which is to put the student and their future first.”
In addition, tuition for the core prerequisite courses of algebra, biology, and chemistry are reduced to $99 per credit hour and scholarships for first-time college students are being offered.
“Taken together, these efforts reflect a strong commitment to providing access to higher education for people in Northwest Ohio,” says Shelly McCoy Grissom, associate dean of students for enrollment services.
Mercy College of Northwest Ohio, a Catholic undergraduate institution, offers Bachelor of Science degree programs in health care administration and nursing and Associate in Science degree programs in general studies, health information technology, nursing and radiologic technology. The college also provides continuing education and other community educational programs.
