More Catholic high school grads named National Merit scholars |

EVANSTON, Ill.—The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has announced the college-sponsored National Merit Scholarship winners of 2008, which include eight students from Catholic high schools in the Diocese of Toledo.
The college-sponsored winners from the diocese are from Mansfield St. Peter, Daniel Clarke and Neel Vaidya; Toledo Notre Dame Academy, Sarah Hansen; Toledo St. John’s Jesuit, Zachary Boerger, Jordan Brown, Sean Coyle and Jarrett Klingbeil; and Toledo St. Ursula Academy, Amanda Kelley.
More than 1.4 million students took the 2008 National Merit Qualifying Test. Of those, 16,000 students became semi-finalists. Of those, about 15,000 became finalists, and about half of them are ultimately named scholarship winners.
