The diocesan Office of Vocations is organizing a prayer society, soliciting people to pray for vocations intentions.

The Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Society of Prayer for Vocations is being developed to encourage individuals to join in a structured rhythm of prayer. Through the intercession of Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, members are going to ask God’s grace for those who are living as priests or consecrated religious, for those currently in formation and for those individuals being called to this way of life.

Using Matthew 9:38 — "pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into His harvest" — as a impetus, Yvonne Dubielak, associate director of vocations, says Catholics have the privilege and responsibility to pray that all individuals have the grace and courage to respond generously to God’s call in their lives.

The prayer society, she adds, offers "strength in numbers" and everyone in the diocese, including the homebound, can participate.

Those enrolling in the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Society of Prayer for Vocations make a commitment to offering the following for the intentions of the society:
• daily prayer for vocations;
• attendance at a weekday Mass as they are able, in addition to the Sunday obligation;
• one rosary a week;
• daily prayer for those already in formation;
• participation in a eucharistic holy hour once a month; and
• the offering of their daily sufferings and trials for the intention of those called to priesthood or consecrated life.

For those unable to participate in a monthly eucharistic holy hour, an hour of prayer in the home using the various prayers in a booklet provided by the Office of Vocations can be substituted.

Those enrolling in the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Society of Prayer for Vocations receive the following benefits:
• A Mass offered once a week for the personal intentions of all the members;
• Daily prayers by members of the society for the personal intentions of all members who belong to the society; and
• A Mass and/or holy hour of eucharistic adoration is to be held annually at Toledo Rosary Cathedral with the bishop presiding. Members of the society and other guests are to be invited to attend and pray as one for vocations.

Those enrolling in the society are also to receive a certificate, suggested prayers for vocations including rosary meditations, prayers before the Blessed Sacrament, a monthly prayer list of those men and women in formation and other appropriate materials.

Additionally, the Office of Vocations is to publish an annual report for members of the society with vocation-related events and news items.

Those wishing to enroll in the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Society of Prayer for Vocations should contact Bonnie Rybak in the Office of Vocations at 419-244-6711, ext. 321 or brybak@toledodiocese.org.
