People who minister to the elderly have the opportunity to learn more about working with people with dementia during one of five workshops being offered by Toledo Diocese Catholic Charities.
Identical programs are being offered at five different sites throughout the diocese, featuring guest speaker, Dr. Lynn Ritter, from the Northwest Ohio Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
The program is intended for priests; deacons; pastoral associates; parish nurses; extraordinary ministers of holy Communion to those homebound, in nursing homes or hospitals; volunteer parishioners doing outreach; and anyone discerning to volunteer in elder outreach.
The programs all begin at 6:30 p.m. at the following locations:
• Oct. 6, Bowling Green St. Aloysius
• Oct. 16, Willard St. Francis
• Oct. 21, Defiance St. Mary
• Oct. 27, Tiffin St. Joseph
• Oct. 28, Kalida St. Michael
The workshops are offered at no charge and made possible through funding from the Annual Catholic Appeal. Registrations are required for planning purposes.
To register, send your name, parish and city, phone and e-mail address to Germaine Kirk, Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo, P.O. Box 985, Toledo, OH 43697-0985; or e-mail to gkirk@toledodiocese.org; or call 419-244-7611, ext. 431.
