Several workshops are being presented throughout the Toledo Diocese to help educate voters on the U.S. bishops’ statement, Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship: A Call to Political Responsibility from the Catholic Bishops of the United States.
Catholic Charities Department of Parish Ministries and Social Concerns has organized a number of workshops this month, including one with John Carr, executive director of the Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Mr. Carr speaks to the public at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at Fostoria St. Wendelin. In the two-hour presentation, he is to address the challenge of Faithful Citizenship, its mission and message and directions and dangers. Earlier in the day, he is presenting an extended four-hour workshop for priests and deacons of the diocese.
Additional workshops are being offered throughout the diocese. These hour-and-a-half sessions include a short introduction to the U.S. bishops’ document, a short film on the meaning and intent of the document and a review of the Ohio ballot issues as evaluated by the Catholic Conference of Ohio.
