CENTER VALLEY, Pa.—The Salesian Center for Faith and Culture at DeSales University has online courses for individuals interested in Salesian spirituality, those seeking self-improvement and those with a desire for educational enrichment. New courses begin this fall.

The courses, offered totally online, in six- or eight-week sessions, are considered non-credit, enrichment courses. The $75 course fee covers administrative costs.

“The teachings of Salesian spirituality and St. Francis de Sales are powerful tools for living in the 21st century,” says Father Thomas Dailey, director of the Salesian Center for Faith and Culture at DeSales University. “A key principle in Salesian spirituality is that all people are called to holiness, not just a select few, so the means to achieve that holiness must be readily available,” he adds.

“Treatise on the Love of God,” which St. Francis de Sales considered his greatest work, is the topic of the course starting Sept. 14. Third in a series on this topic, the course focuses on “books” nine through 12 and invites participants to explore what it says to modern men and women, especially those desiring to grow in their own spiritual lives. Completion of earlier courses in the series is not required to take the course.

“Salesian Scriptures-Special Edition for the Year of St. Paul,” starts Jan. 26 and examines how St. Francis de Sales incorporated Scripture in his own preaching and teaching with a focus on the writings of St. Paul.

Established in 2000, the Salesian Center for Faith and Culture’s mission is to promote the interaction of faith and culture through academic initiatives that focus on the authentic integration of social concerns and Gospel values.
