ST. MEINRAD, Ind.—St. Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery is hosting “To Enhance the Celebration,” an exhibit of vestments made by Benedictine Brother Kim Malloy, through Feb. 27.

Br. Malloy, a monk of St. Meinrad Archabbey, has been making vestments for the past 30 years. He joined the monastery in 1956 and began weaving the following year. He learned the art of vestment making from fellow monk the late Benedictine Father Prosper Lindauer. By the middle to late 1970s, Br. Malloy was making vestments without help.

Some vestments in the exhibit are made from handwoven fabric, while others are made from commercial fabric.

Br. Malloy, a monk of St. Meinrad for 50 years, has exhibited his work at the Ohio Liturgical Art Show, the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Liturgical Art Show in Indianapolis, the Mid-West Craft Show in Evansville, Ind.; the Midwest Weavers Conference Shows in Columbia, Mo., Berea, Ohio, and Bloomington, Ind.; the National Handweavers Show in East Berlin, Pa.; and The Looms in Mineral Point, Wis.

The library exhibit is free and open to the public. For exhibit hours, call 800-682-0988.
