The Vocations Office of the Diocese of Toledo sponsored two new retreats this summer for young men, each with the goals of deepening the men’s faith commitment and promoting community.
The high school-age boys gathered June 26-28 at Old Heritage Farm, located near Pemberville, and junior high-age boys met July 10-12 at Domus Angelorum Retreat Center, near Cloverdale.
Both retreats featured a rustic setting, with plenty of outdoor fun and games. Each day included Mass, prayer, and opportunities to learn more about the Catholic faith.
Father Adam Hertzfeld, director of vocations for the Diocese of Toledo, was the spiritual leader for both retreats. Jeremy Miller, diocesan seminarian, organized and led the retreats. Several other diocesan seminarians and priests helped throughout both weekends.
High school attendees heard talks and witnesses from several diocesan seminarians, each at a different place in his formation journey. The junior high participants visited and toured Glandorf St. John, Kalida St. Michael and Ottoville Immaculate Conception. Each retreat ended with Mass and lunch with participants’ families.
More retreats like this are to be offered through the Office of Vocations next summer.
