TOLEDO—The Christ Child Society (CCS) of Toledo is hosting a fundraiser Oct. 22 for its programs supporting needy infants and children in the Toledo area.
The event begins at 6 p.m. at the Maumee Bay Kitchen and Bath showroom, 6128 Merger Dr. in Holland, Ohio, and includes a live auction of gourmet, homemade casseroles that are frozen and ready to be taken home and enjoyed at a future date. It also includes a silent auction of the unique “kitchen drawer in a box,” which are decorated boxes filled with an assortment of items one might find in a kitchen “miscellaneous” drawer. The ticket price includes appetizers, appetizer recipes and beverages.

The CCS has been a voice for needy infants and children in the Toledo community for more than 19 years. This past year, more than 200 members contributed more than 11,000 hours of volunteer service to disadvantaged children in the community. Cornerstone projects include distributing more than 800 newborn layettes and also clothing almost 900 needy children with a complete new winter wardrobe. Members also aid the community be conducting an award-winning parent support and education group at the Catholic Club, “Parenting Today’s Kids.” In the past, members have volunteered at several inner city schools. This year the tutoring is to continue at Rosary Cathedral and Mary Immaculate School. Member support has allowed more than 2,700 central city school children to attend Lourdes College Life Science Lab and Theater Vision Programs.
