Sister Alice Marie Schmersal, formerly Sister Monica Joseph, was born in Columbus Grove and attended Kalida St. Michael School. She entered Aug. 15, 1955, at St. Anne Convent in Melbourne, Ky., and made her first profession of vows Aug. 29, 1959. She has served as either teacher or principal in schools in Kentucky, Ohio, Maryland and West Virginia. She also served as director of religious education at Genoa Our Lady of Lourdes and Oak Harbor St. Boniface and is presently serving at St. Ann in Manchester, Ky.
