Five Ursuline Sisters celebrate jubilees

65 years
Sister Charlotte Rita Riley
entered from Norwalk St. Paul in 1944 and taught at Toledo St. John, St. Agnes, Rosary Cathedral, St. Charles and St. Thomas Aquinas and at Nazareth Hall in Grand Rapids. She was in charge of the Farm at Ladyglen Farms, Grand Rapids. She was coordinator for Ursula Hall infirmary and was a member of the pastoral care team at Ursuline Center. She now continues to serve as health care coordinator for sisters who live outside the Ursuline Center and volunteers at Ursuline Center.

60 years
Sister Jeanne Marie Holtz
, formerly Sr. Edward Marie Holtz, entered the convent in 1949. She taught at Toledo Good Shepherd, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Patrick of Heatherdowns, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and St. Angela Hall, Tiffin St. Joseph and St. Mary, Lima St. Gerard and Crestline St. Joseph. She also served as principal at Good Shepherd and as the coordinator of religious education at Perrysburg St. Rose. Sr. Holtz is presently a tutor for students at St. Ursula Academy.

Sister Anne Coss, formerly Sr. Mary Daniel Coss, entered the Ursuline Convent in 1949. She taught at Toledo Good Shepherd, St. Angela Hall, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Patrick of Heatherdowns, Central Catholic High School and St. Ursula Academy and Tiffin St. Mary and Calvert High School. Sr. Coss was principal at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns and St. Ursula Academy. In 1979 she began chaplaincy work at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn., served at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, Ill. and at St. Vincent Hospital. In 1994 she was elected to the Council of the Ursuline Sisters and served as the director of Ursuline Center until 1999. She has been a volunteer for Heartbeat since her retirement to Ursuline Center where she presently resides.

Sister M. Angelita Abair
entered the Ursuline Convent from Toledo St. Agnes Parish after her graduation from Toledo Central Catholic High School. She taught at Toledo Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. John the Baptist, Rosary Cathedral and St. Teresa and at Nazareth Hall in Grand Rapids. She worked for the inner city through Grace Reformed Church and worked for the Office of Community Relations. Sr. Abair served as a pastoral associate at Sandusky SS. Peter & Paul and Toledo parishes St.Jude, St. Charles and St. Francis de Sales. She was elected to serve on the Ursuline Council from 1993 to 2002. Additionally, she substitute taught and served as a religious education  director for south Toledo parishes and as instructor at Perrysburg St. Rose, Toledo St. Michael and Toledo Queen of Peace. She also gave SPECK retreats. She now resides at the Ursuline Center and does volunteer work.

Sister Mary Kenwyn Steger
, formerly Mary Ellen Steger, entered the Ursuline Convent in 1959 from Toledo Rosary Cathedral parish after graduating from Mary Manse College. She taught at Toledo St. John, Rosary Cathedral, St. Agnes, Good Shepherd and St. Angela Hall and at Tiffin St. Joseph and Lima St. Gerard. Sr. Steger also was a librarian at St. Angela Hall, Toledo St. Patrick of Heatherdowns and St. Ursula Academy.
