Four Tiffin Franciscan Sisters celebrate jubilees |

70 years Sister Eileen Bechtel is from New Washington St. Bernard and joined the Franciscan Sisters of Tiffin July 16, 1939. She professed her first vows Aug. 12, 1941, and her final vows Aug. 12, 1944. She was a secondary school teacher at St. Francis Convent School and Calvert High School, both in Tiffin, and Central Catholic High School in Toledo; principal of St. Francis Convent School and a primary school teacher at Carey Our Lady of Consolation and Seneca Huron in Attica. She taught religious education at Bascom St. Patrick, Republic St. Aloysius, Sycamore St. Pius X, St. Stephen St. Stephen, and Bismark St. Sebastian. Sr. Bechtel was the director of religious education at Tiffin St. Mary and served her community as councilor, motherhouse administrator and medical assistant in the convent infirmary. Sr. Bechtel currently serves the community as a minister of service at St. Francis Convent and St. Francis Home.
Sister Mary Charles Scherley is from the former Assumption Parish in Reed, Ohio. She joined the Franciscan Sisters of Tiffin July 16, 1939, professed her first vows Aug. 12, 1941, and her final vows Aug. 12, 1944. Sr. Scherley taught at Landeck St. John, New Washington St. Bernard, Bismark St. Sebastian, Bryan St. Patrick and Fort Jennings St. Joseph. She served as teacher and principal at Custar St. Louis, Payne St. John the Baptist and North Auburn Mother of Sorrows. Sr. Scherley taught CCD in Bascom, Attica and Bowling Green. She also served as associate administrator, personnel director, supervisor of the front office, sacristan and receptionist at St. Francis Home, Tiffin. She currently serves the community as a minister of service at St. Francis Home.
Sister Agnes Siebenaler, formerly known at Sister Mary Herbert, is from Blakeslee St. Joseph and joined the Franciscan Sisters of Tiffin July 16, 1939. She professed her first vows Aug. 12, 1941, and final vows Aug. 12, 1944. She taught at New Washington St. Bernard, Custar St. Louis, Millersville St. Mary, Reed Assumption, New Cleveland Holy Family, Miller City St. Nicholas, Carey Our Lady of Consolation and Bucyrus Holy Trinity. She served as both teacher and principal at Landeck St. John and Oak Harbor St. Boniface. Sr. Siebenaler continued serving the Toledo Diocese as consultant to the diocesan schools, pastoral associate at Kirby St. Mary and Upper Sandusky St. Peter and director of RCIA at Bascom St. Patrick and Liberty St. Andrew. She also served as director of religious education at St. Mary in Marion, Ohio, and served her community as the director of St. Lawrence Museum. Sr. Siebenaler currently is a minister of prayer.
25 years Sister Dorothy Forman, is from Detroit and entered the novitiate of the Sylvania Franciscan Sisters Aug. 10, 1984, transferring to the Tiffin Franciscan Sisters Feb. 16, 2003. She has served in various ministries in Michigan and Ohio, including in the Diocese of Toledo as activities director at Rosary Care Center, communications and development director for the Sylvania Franciscan Sisters, pastoral associate and religious education coordinator at Toledo Our Lady of Lourdes and a member of the administrative team overseeing daily functions on the campus of the Tiffin Franciscan Sisters. Currently, Sr. Forman is a freelance writer and minister of hospitality and prayer.
