MAUMEE—“Losing Maria,” a prevention film about domestic minor sex trafficking, premieres Jan. 10 with screenings at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Maumee Indoor Theatre, 601 Conant St.
The film is produced by Second Chance, a social service program in Toledo that provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic sex trafficking and prostitution. It tells the story of Maria, a 15-year-old who, despite a broken home, is struggling to find love in the world. She turns to those she thinks she can trust but instead discovers a chilling truth — a truth found here in the greater Toledo area.
Production of “Losing Maria” was financed by Region Six of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, which includes communities of women religious from Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.
The film is free and open to the public, and a free will offering will be accepted.
