TIFFIN—The American Red Cross has recognized Mercy Hospital of Tiffin as the donor site with the highest repeat donor rate in the entire Western Lake Erie Region for 2008, according to Jason Bowles, Mercy Tiffin’s Laboratory Supervisor.

The Western Lake Erie Region encompasses 23 hospitals. During 2008, 46 percent of the employees at Mercy Tiffin who donated blood gave during at least two of the three blood drives, for a total of 24 donors. Of those, 10 donated during all three drives.

Robin Henderson served as chairperson for the hospital’s blood drive team and was key in organizing and scheduling the blood drives.

“We are very pleased that our employees at Mercy Tiffin value so highly the importance of helping others by donating blood,” says Chris Rizzo, director of Professional Services at Mercy Tiffin. “This is just one more example of Mercy employees fulfilling our mission and realizing that we can make a difference in many different ways.”

Blood donors who contributed multiple donations include: Jane Banks, Linda Brose, Dawn Davidson, Nancy Dore, Wanda Edgington, Lisa Graham, Su Hellmann, Becky Kelbley, Elaine Leaver, Carol Lofay, Sandy McElhatten, Carmen Metzger, Dionne Myers, Sharon Nye, Michelle Pflieger, Dave Recker, Judy Ryder, Kris Sedlak, Cindy Siferd, Susan Starner, Bernie Steinmetz, Shelly Warnement, Lisa Williams and Sara Wise.
