TIFFIN—The Mercy Tiffin Foundation held a golf outing Aug. 17 that raised more than $19,000 for the foundation’s largest annual fundraiser.
Twenty-two teams teed off in what turned out to be a perfect day of golfing. This was the 18th year of this major fundraiser.
“This year’s golf outing and silent auction was another great success thanks to our sponsors, players and volunteers,” said Bernie Steinmetz, manager of development and donor relations. “I’d also like to thank the staff members at Mohawk Golf & Country Club for their help. We look forward to seeing everyone again next August for our 19th annual event.”
The first place winner of the golf outing was Team Advertiser-Tribune, which included Chris Dixon, Dave Lucius, Tom Phillips and Steve Maiberger, with a score of 59. The second place team was Tiffin Ford-Lincoln-Mercury, which included Dan Reineke, Gary Scherger, Ron Frank and Ted Rombach, with a score of 60. The third place team was Heidelberg University, which included John Bing, Marc O’Reilly, Garrett Hunes and Mike Zimmerman with a score of 60.
The winner of the longest drive on hole number four was Steve Dunbar. The winner of the closest to the line on hole number 11 was Janet Scheid. Jerry Weininger was the closest to the pin on his second shot on the 17th hole.
Clouse Construction served as the major sponsor and Lathrop was the lunch/beverage sponsor.
