The Catherine McAuley Lifetime Achievement Award is the most prestigious honor that Mercy Tiffin Hospital can bestow on any associate of the hospital. It is given to individuals who, through a lifetime of services to the hospital, emulate most closely the values of the foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, Catherine McAuley.

Mercy Tiffin president and CEO Dale Thornton opened the ceremony with welcoming remarks and Sister of Mercy Irene Bishop offered the prayer. Mr. Thornton, Robert Pudlowski, Mercy Health Partners regional director of materials management and Mike Kisabeth, rural division supervisor of materials management, presented the award to Ms. Shock.

“This year’s recipient of the award, not unlike her predecessors, demonstrates certain character traits that we all admire,” Mr. Thornton said. “This person of mercy and love enriches the lives of all those she touches, including her co-workers, her patients and her family. Peg embodies all the traits an award winner should have and is very deserving of being this year’s winner of the Catherine McAuley Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Ms. Shock started at Mercy Hospital in 1966 as an admitting clerk. Within the hospital, she has served on the Mission Services Committee and the Mercy Tiffin Hospital Auxiliary, completing two terms as president. When there is fundraising to be done, she is one of the first to volunteer, organizing countless bake sales, garage sales and Bingo events.

She also spends countless hours volunteering for community events, including health fairs, the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk and Relay for Life. She is an ambassador for Mercy Tiffin Hospital in the many organizations and community projects that she is involved in. Above all, she encourages others to volunteer and is a wonderful example of living the mission of Catherine McAuley.
