TIFFIN—A new program introduced by Tiffin Calvert Catholic Schools offers students the chance to work for local businesses in exchange for scholarships.
Created to fund scholarships directly to students, the “Adopt a Seneca/Adopt a Little Seneca” program is a corollary of Vision 2010, an endowment campaign with the goal of raising $10 million by 2010 for Calvert Catholic Schools.
Adopt a Seneca provides an avenue of funding for those who choose to give toward the campaign with a specific purpose in mind. Initially designed to target individuals such as family members, the program’s scope was expanded to include businesses and corporations.
By donating directly to the Adopt A Seneca program of the Vision 2010 Endowment Campaign, businesses and corporations can adopt a student who, in return for their scholarship, can work volunteer hours after school or on weekends for the funding business or corporation during the school year. The logistics and details of the work involved would be finalized and agreed upon by the student, his or her parents and the funding entity.
The Adopt A Seneca program creates a win-win situation: the business and corporation gains a reliable, low to no-cost employee while the student receives a free education and invaluable real life learning experience.
For more information on the program, contact Michael Baltzell, development and marketing director for Calvert Catholic Schools, at 419-447-0358 or mbaltzell@calverths.org.
