TIFFIN—Art Therapy for cancer survivors and their caregivers is offered through the Mercy Hospital of Tiffin Radiation Therapy Center. The Mercy Tiffin Radiation Therapy Center is located at 40 Fair Lane, Tiffin, next to the Seneca County Fairgrounds.
Art Therapy is presented by Racine Dominica Sister Barbara Kukla Sept. 3, 10, 17 and 24 at 6:30 p.m. Classes are free and open to the public, however, they are limited to eight people.
“Art Therapy is designed to help relieve the anxiety and fear associated with cancer,” says Karen Gies, a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. “During the sessions, relaxation techniques are used to get you through ‘those days’ or when you need a short vacation.”
Sr. Kukla has a master’s degree in art therapy and is a member of the American Art Therapy Association and the Buckeye Art Therapy Association.
No art ability is required, just a desire to participate. For more information or to register, call the Mercy Tiffin Radiation Therapy Center at 419-455-8101.
