TOLEDO—Erin Kenney, a senior at St. Ursula Academy, has been appointed for a one year term (2008-09), as a member of the Leadership Toledo Board of Trustees.

As a sophomore, Erin was selected by St. Ursula Academy to participate in Youth Leadership Toledo, an intensive nine-month leadership development experience and a core program of Leadership Toledo.

During the 2006-07 school year, 47 participants from 34 high schools joined Erin to represent a cross-section of the regional community — coming from suburban, inner-city and rural schools. Youth Leadership Toledo students gather for day-long sessions to learn about the community and participate in activities that raise awareness and build skills focused on service learning and improving their hometown communities.

After her experience in Youth Leadership Toledo, Erin joined Youth In Philanthropy Encouraging Excellence (YIPEE), an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to identify problems facing youth in our region, lead their own fundraising efforts and after reviewing grant proposals, allocate money raised to local nonprofits that offer solutions to specific problems.

As a Leadership Toledo trustee, Erin joins 25 business and community leaders and three high school seniors responsible for establishing goals, setting policies and procedures, monitoring fiscal responsibility and promoting all programs associated with the organization.
