Nine from St. Ursula earn AP Scholar Awards

TOLEDO—Eight graduates of St. Ursula Academy and a current senior earned AP (Advanced Placement) Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP Exams taken last spring at the school.

Two students, Erin Leidy and Sarah Muller qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. Ms. Leidy is currently attending Fordham University and Ms. Muller attends Vanderbilt University.

Elizabeth Tighe and Margaret Wentz qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Ms. Tighe and Ms. Wentz are freshmen at Denison University and The Ohio State University respectively.

Five students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with grades of 3 or higher. The AP Scholars are Katherine Bonfiglio, Dana Connors, Alison Darr, Kaitlin Manahan and Sydney Rush. Alison is a current senior at St. Ursula and the other four are graduates attending The Ohio State University.

These nine young women are a part of only about 18 percent of the 1.6 million students worldwide who took AP Exams and performed at a sufficiently high level to also earn an AP Scholar Award.

St. Ursula Academy offers 10 Advanced Placement courses including calculus, chemistry, English literature, human geography, psychology, statistics, Latin, Latin literature, U.S. government and U.S. history.

There are also 17 honors-level courses available to students with exceptional abilities and a keen intellectual curiosity. In addition, eligible juniors and seniors may take college-level courses through the Post Secondary Enrollment Option Program (PSEOP).
