TOLEDO—St. Francis de Sales High School presents its third annual “Knight Fest: A Celebration of the Arts” at 6:30 p.m. March 9.

The event features artwork and performances by St. Francis students, as well as a special appearance by Ian Knauer, St. Francis Class of 1986, who is currently on national tour with “Mamma Mia!” at the Fisher Theater in Detroit.

Admission to the event is free, but the school states, “donations from the heart are appreciated.” Proceeds benefit selected art scholarships.

Mr. Knauer has performed extensively around the world, after appearing in St. Francis musicals during his four years at the school. He has been part of national tours of “42nd Street,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,” “The Will Rogers Follies” with Larry Gatlin, “Sunset Blvd.” with Petula Clark and “Doctor Doolittle.” He has also performed both book shows and revues throughout Europe, China and Japan.

Mr. Knauer created the role of the Rev. Harold “Stinker” Pinker in the Andrew Lloyd Weber/Alan Ayckbourn Broadway musical “By Jeeves.” He was also part of the original Broadway cast of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “State Fair” with John Davidson and Kathryn Crosby. He performed with Reba McEntire in “South Pacific” at Carnegie Hall and with Paul Sorvino in “The Most Happy Fella” at the New York City Opera.

Mr. Knauer has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre degree from the University of Michigan. He is on the advisory board of Something mAAgic, a group that helps children in the Make-a-Wish program.

He plans to join the members of the St. Francis Men’s Chorus and members of the cast for the school’s spring musical “Bye, Bye Birdie” as part of the evening’s Broadway revue.
