FOSTORIA—Abigail A. Statham, a senior at Fostoria St. Wendelin High School, has been named a finalist in the 2009 competition for $2,500 National Merit Scholarships. Finalists are also likely to receive college-financed scholarships reserved for National Merit Scholarship winners.
Abigail, daughter of Mark and Alisa Statham, has a 4.0 grade point average, is a member of the National Honor Society (NHS) and a National Spanish Exam Gold and Silver Medalist. Her extra-curricular activities include NHS treasurer; drama club president; member of the jazz band, pep band, marching band, Quiz Bowl team, Greek Club, Teens For Life and Mission 72 Youth Group.
Abigail has taught vacation Bible school and participated in the Y.E.S. (Youth Elect Service) Project and 30 Hour Famine. She plans to attend a four-year college and would like to work at a museum.
