OTTAWA—The first model training session sponsored by Putnam County Pure Fashion, “Spotlight on Beauty,” was held at Red Pig Inn in Ottawa Jan. 10. More than 50 people from several area towns attended the event, which is designed to create a motivational environment for role models of beauty.

The “Super Models,” young ladies 18 to 26 years old, who have expressed a desire to help young girls in their quest for modesty, gave an overview of the mission and goals of Pure Fashion, its history and a description of what it takes to be a Pure Fashion model. Attendees learned that being a Pure Fashion model is more than wearing modest clothing — it is about living a pure lifestyle.
Then models led small group activities that offered an opportunity for group members to interact with each other while sharing a common message of purity.
While the models were working with the girls, there was a breakout session for the moms, which was primarily a question and answer session about the eight-month program. Mothers were encouraged to attend all the programs to explore ways to enhance relationships not only with their daughters, but their families, too.
The program ended with pizza and a DVD presentation of a previous Pure Fashion Show done in Atlanta, Ga. Each girl attending was presented with a keepsake gift of a journal and the Pure Fashion creed that states, “virtue is the most important ‘must have’ for every season” and says members “should support retailers, designers and magazines that support virtuous behavior.”
The next Pure Fashion session, “Elegant Expressions,” is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 7 at the Schnipke Inn in Ottawa. Former Miss Ohio, Mindy (Miller) Fairbanks, is to be the keynote speaker.
