MILAN—A grant from OCP (Oregon Catholic Press) will allow Milan St. Anthony to update hymnals used at the church.
Hymnals now being used — “We Celebrate” — are so out of date that when new accompaniment books were sought to replace those with missing parts, they were no longer in print, according to Linda Salmons, pastoral associate at St. Anthony.
The grant will cover the cost of purchasing 250 new hymnals and the accompaniment book. Ms. Salmons is excited about the purchase, especially because St. Anthony will now be using the same hymnal as its twin parish, Norwalk St. Mary.
St. Anthony was one of 44 parishes in the United States to receive a portion of $114,000 in OCP grants this year.
“Service to the church is one of the guiding principles of our company,” says John Limb, OCP publisher. “We’re a not-for-profit, but we are a successful company, thanks in a large part to the support we’ve received from churches.”
Applications for 2009 grants can be submitted between April 30 and June 30 to www.ocp.org/grants.
All U.S. Catholic parishes are eligible to apply, even if they don’t currently use an OCP worship program. The purpose of the grant must be linked to liturgy and/or music.
