NEW WASHINGTON—A parish mission at New Washington St. Bernard Sept. 25-30 features Father of Mercy Tony Stephens.
Fr. Stephens begins by preaching at all of the weekend Masses and the mission continues with sessions at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Morning sessions consist of Mass and the previous night’s mission talk. Evening sessions include exposition, the mission talk, benediction and confession.
Topics include “The Four Marks of Christ’s Church,” “The Importance of Prayer in My Life,” “God’s Mercy in the Commandments,” “The Mass — Why Bother?” and “The Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary.”
The mission is presented as a time of personal renewal where attendees are challenged to commit themselves more deeply to the Catholic faith and a time of discovery for people who are not Catholic, or who are unclear about what Catholics believe.
Fr. Tony is a native of Angelus, Kan., and graduated from Christendom College in Front Royal, Va., in 1999. He joined the Fathers of Mercy in 2000, studied for the priesthood at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus and was ordained in 2005.
