PERRYSBURG—Perrysburg Blessed John XXIII is collaborating with Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Toledo to host a series of workshops on the death penalty this October. The series includes three different presentations at Blessed John XXIII, located at 24250 Dixie Hwy., Perrysburg. Ed Hoover discusses the historical development of capital punishment and what happened in Scripture on Oct. 7; Father Herb Weber discusses how the church responds to the death penalty through its teachings and its ministry on Oct. 14; and a panel talks about what people can do about the death penalty in Ohio on Oct. 21. Each hour-and-a-half session begins at 9 a.m. and repeats at 7 p.m. There is no cost for the workshops, which are made possibly through the Annual Catholic Appeal, but registration is required as space is limited. Contact Germaine Kirk at 419244-6711, ext. 431 or gkirk@toledodiocese.org for more information.
