Annual Sylvania Franciscan gala is Sept. 25

SYLVANIA—The Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania are to hold their 11th Annual Gala Sept. 25 at the Franciscan Center of Lourdes College.

More than 300 people are expected to attend this annual event designed to honor and support the diverse ministries of the Sylvania Franciscans. The gala begins at 4 p.m. with liturgy in Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel on the motherhouse grounds in Sylvania, followed by a reception, dinner and silent auction beginning at 5 p.m. in the Franciscan Center.

Dr. John J. Hall, retired physician from Bryan, Texas, and current chair of the Franciscan Services Corporation board of trustees, is to receive the St. Francis Award for his exemplary contributions to society and his modeling of Franciscan values. Carol Bonar, director of the Neurovascular Laboratory, Trinity Health Center, Steubenville, Ohio, is to receive the St. Clare Award for her contributions to society lived out through her modeling of Franciscan values.

The master of ceremonies for this year’s event is Tome Cole, a Toledo native who works for the Buckeye Cable Sports Network as a sports announcer, program host and community development coordinator.

The evening is to culminate with a presentation of Franciscan hope in song by the Sisters of St. Francis. For more information about the gala, contact Mary Steinmetz at 419-824-3624.
