Lourdes College announces new board members, chairman |

SYLVANIA—Robert C. Helmer, president of Lourdes College, has appointed four members to the board of trustees — Michael Gibbons, Richard LaValley Jr., Larry Peterson and David Waterman. Their terms began July 1.
The college also named Joe Nachtrab of Toledo as chairman of the board for the 2010-2011 academic year.
Mr. Nachtrab is president of Northaven Development Group, a second-generation, family-owned investment company with more than 20 years of experience in real estate, including residential, warehouse, and commercial properties. Additionally, he serves as president of Trans Tech Logistics, a company specializing in customer transportation needs such as tank and trailer washouts, full truckload, less than truckload, flatbed and reefer service to intermodal and air freight services.
Mr. Gibbons, a Sylvania resident, is president and CEO of Mainstreet Ventures Inc. Founded in 1981, Mainstreet Ventures offers 15 distinct eateries in Florida, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia including restaurants such as Ciao, Gratzi, La Dolce Vita, Real Seafood Company and Zia’s Italian. He is a member of the board of trustees for the National Restaurant Association and serves on the board for the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. He is past president of the Michigan Restaurant Association, where he was bestowed the Distinguished Service Award. Mr. Gibbons is also a Northwest Ohio Entrepreneur of the Year award recipient.
Mr. LaValley, a Sylvania resident, is the president of LaValley, LaValley, Todak and Shaefer, LPA. A graduate of the University of Toledo College of Law, he is a member of the bar associations of Florida, Ohio State and Toledo. He is also a member of the St. Francis de Sales High School board of trustees, the St. Ursula Academy Foundation, the Notre Dame Advisory board and education foundation, the Northwest Ohio Scholarship Fund board, Fifth Third Bank board of trustees and the Diocese of Toledo Bishop's Education Council
Mr. Peterson, a resident of Holland, is president and owner of Activity Mobility, a northwest Ohio provider of medical equipment. He previously served as president and owner of Sentinel Fluid Controls LLC and co-founded Distribution Solutions Inc., an electronic service bureau for the industrial distribution marketplace that was merged with MROI Software and eventually purchased by IBM. Additionally, he assisted in the establishment of Kenakore Solutions Inc., an electronic commerce driven warehousing and logistics fulfillment center in Perrysburg. Mr. Peterson currently serves on the board of trustees for Kenakore and ProMedica Health System.
Mr. Waterman, a Toledo resident, is partner and chair of the management committee at Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick LLP. He serves on the boards of Greenline Foods, Herb Thyme Farms and recycled plastic manufacturers Plastic Technologies and Phoenix Technologies. Additionally, he serves on the board of trustees at the Boys & Girls Club of Toledo, the Imagination Station, the Northwest Ohio Regional Growth Partnership and the Toledo Community Foundation. He is also a member of the advisory board for CoreNetwork Angel Investor Group.
