SYLVANIA—The Lourdes College Department of Art presents an informational open house for its degree programs for prospective students April 29 in McAlear Hall from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

During the event, guests will tour the art facilities, have an opportunity to view the student art exhibition, meet art students and faculty and speak with admissions representatives. Light refreshments are to be provided.

The Department of Art at Lourdes College offers associate and bachelor degrees in Art, a bachelor’s degree in Art History and a Pre-Art Therapy program. Lourdes College also offers a Bachelor of Arts Interdisciplinary Studies degree where students can concentrate in art. A variety of art history and studio classes are available for all majors providing a creative, small class size environment that serves as a stimulus in which awareness, insight and individual responsibility can develop. Instruction is centered around developing artistic skills on an individual basis and on fostering the ability to think and evaluate critically and independently. Students are encouraged to cultivate abilities in art through a combination of classroom theory, studio performance and contact with practicing professionals.

Prior to the open house, Lourdes is to kick-off its annual student art exhibition with a variety of two and three-dimensional works, which will be for sale.  The exhibition takes place in McAlear Hall with an opening reception for the public April 25 from 4 to 6 p.m.
