SYLVANIA—Lourdes College broke its enrollment record for the seventh consecutive year, with 13 percent more students enrolled this fall over last year.

The college had 2,616 students enrolled as of Aug. 30, compared to 2,319 last fall. Academic programs experiencing the largest growth are LPN to BSN (63 percent increase), psychology (51 percent increase) and biology (43 percent increase).

The number of service men and women enrolled at the college also increased by 82 percent as a result of Lourdes’ enhanced veteran and military offerings, including the Veteran Center and new scholarships.

To maintain the college’s small class sizes and personalized attention, Lourdes has added the following new full-time faculty: professor of language and literature Holly Baumgartner, assistant professor of philosophy Ellen Bernal, assistant professor of business Ryan Butt, professor of accounting Philip Fink, professor of nursing Merrily Kuhn, assistant professor of nursing Jill Liebnau, associate professor of biology and health sciences James J. Minesky and assistant professor of theology Peter Sibilio.

“This is an historical year for Lourdes and students from around the country want to be a part our institution,” says Robert C. Helmer, president of Lourdes College. “This fall, we are thrilled to welcome our first residential students to campus as well as students from Alaska, California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and many other locations throughout the U.S.”
