SYLVANIA—The Lourdes College Drama Society is launching its 2010 One-Act Playwriting Competition. Last year’s competition garnered international attention, receiving submissions from across the U.S. and Canada.

Cash awards of $250 for first place, $100 for second place and $50 for third place are to be presented. The winning plays are to be considered for production at Lourdes College in the spring semester as part of the Drama Society’s 2011 Festival of One Acts.

The competition is open to the public. Submissions are restricted to original dramatic works that have not been previously published or produced outside of an academic environment. Scripts will be judged on concept, dramatic action, characterization and dialogue. All entries must be postmarked no later than Nov. 1. Winners are to be announced and notified Dec. 5.
